Drumshanbo Gunpowder Irish Gin is a truly unique product. The process begins with an array of ingredients assembled by the curious mind of PJ Rigney and then low distillation commences. 8 botanicals are then added to the copper pot (Meadowsweet, cardamom, juniper berries, coriander seed, angelica root, orris root, caraway seed, star anise). 4 Botanicals are added to the Vapour Basket (gunpowder tea, Chinese lemon, Oriental grapefruit, kaffir lime). Time for resting and maturing and then the bottles are filled, labelled and packed by hand within 'The Shed Distillery'.
Drumshanbo Gunpowder Irish Gin offers a complex and intriguing flavor profile. Expect bright citrus notes, particularly grapefruit and lemon, layered with the distinctive, slightly earthy and smoky character of gunpowder tea. Juniper is present, along with subtle floral hints and spicy notes of cardamom and coriander. The finish is long, warm, and smooth, with a lingering spice. A gentle sweetness from meadowsweet balances the dryness from the tea-like tannins.The gunpowder tea provides a grassy, slightly smoky, and unique character, sometimes described as reminiscent of jasmine green tea.
