Kentucky Owl is thrilled to announce a unique collaboration with our friend, Master Blender Yahisa Yusuke of Suntory. This Takumi Edition brings together the traditional blending skills of selecting rare whiskey barrels and unique flavor profiles, with the expertise of our Master Blender, John Rhea, resulting in this exceptional and unique limited release. The bourbon is a blend of 4-, 5-, 6- and 13-year-old Kentucky straight bourbons with a mash bill containing corn, rye or wheat, and malted barley.
Nose: The nose features light rye bread, caramel, and a hint of fruit. On tasting, there is an initial wave of rye bread with a mouthfeel that is said to be full-bodied. The finish is flavorful and long.
Taste: The initial wave of buttery rye bread provides a full bodied taste and feel from the start. Across the tongue the savory mix of rye and caramel combine into a cinnamon and caramel sauce that clings to the taste buds to bring out a bit of fruitiness, mostly apple and pear, that, all combined, provide a flavorful, pleasant, lasting finish.
