Process & Profile
Glen Scotia 15 Year Old is a celebration of Campbeltown’s coastal heritage and traditional whisky-making methods. Crafted without peat influence, this single malt is matured in a combination of first-fill bourbon barrels and refill American oak casks, with a short finishing period in Oloroso sherry casks. The result is a complex, layered whisky showcasing vibrant fruit, vanilla, and spice, enhanced by a subtle coastal saltiness from aging near the sea.
Glen Scotia has always produced two styles of whisky; peated and non peated. Typically the peated whisky is produced over a period of 6 weeks per year. These two styles will be maintained into the future as they are characteristics of the Campbeltown style which Glen Scotia is known for. Over the years the quality of the whisky has improved with longer fermentation and vatting of the malted barley as well as a slower and more careful distillation. But overall the process remains the same as it always was.
Tasting Notes:
Nose: Citrus peels, ginger snap biscuits, baked apricots, and soft vanilla
Palate: Rich fruit character with caramelized sugar, plump apricots, and toasted oak
Finish: Warm and smooth with notes of honey, gentle spice, and a dry oaky fade
